Jene Rae Llasos was born in the southern islands of the Philippines. When she was 11, her family moved to Malawi Africa whereher parents became missionary nurses at the local hospital. As a young missionary child, Jene enjoyed her days learning the culture, playing music, telling Bible stories and giving clothes at the poor villages around her home. During her high school years, she went to Maxwell Adventist Academy, a boarding school in Kenya. In the six years of their missionary life, Jene and her family explored nine African countries, traveled to multiple countries around Asia, and explored different states in the United States. After completing their missionary contract, the family moved to the Rio Grande Valley, Texas. Jene finished her high school at Valley Grande Academy in Weslaco. She then attended college at Southwestern Adventist University in Keene Texas where she obtained her Associate Degree in Nursing 2002. She launched her first career as a medical-surgical Registered Nurse at Austin Children’s Hospital. She moved back to the Rio Grande Valley a few years later and worked at McAllen Medical Center and Edinburg Children’s Hospital as a Pediatric ICU nurse. Jene temporarily went back to Keene to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2009. She returned to the valley and became the Nurse Educator for the pediatric services at Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance (DHR). In 2013, Jene ventured in her nursing career and became the Clinical Documentation Specialist for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at DHR. In 2017, she obtained the degree of Masters of Science in Nursingat Walden University and certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner in Family Practice. As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, she has devoted her career in primary pediatric medicine.

Jene is overjoyed to be a provider at McAllen Children’s Clinic. She brings in many years experience of pediatric care. She integrates her passion in pediatric advanced practice, and broad clinical expertise in providing the highest quality of care to her patients by use of evidence-based medicine. Being a parent herself, Jene is affectionate to her patients and relates to the needs, the joy and especially the fears of each family.

Aside from work, Jene loves to travel, especially to destinations with beaches and sunsets. She enjoys trying authentic food from different parts of the world. She is devoted to her husband Omar, their daughter Dayåmi, and her family.
